Backstory: Uber and Lyft drivers don't make much money. You can make a living off of it but it's far from the glamorous $30/hour as quoted in vox by lyft. There are a lot of unforeseen costs including gas, tolls, wear and tear on the car and maintenance.

The Idea: An app that pings you when Lyft, Uber, Shipt or other gig economy jobs hit "peak time".

Deep Dive: The app would be a monthly fee that would monitor all gig economy platforms and alert you when peak time. The more people that sign up, the more people would log on to the platforms as providers, the faster the peak time would go away. The fee could adjust as more users pay for the platform, this would help stop the "surge" of gig providers.

Validation: Not sure on this one, a friend suggested it and I thought it was a good idea.

Monetization: Given this app would put itself out of business once gaining popularity (more gig providers logging on reduces the "surge" pricing), this could be an expensive monthly subscription. Being able to only drive for lyft/uber during surge could net you an extra $1,000 per month.
